4-coumarate
Description
p-Coumaric acid is a hydroxycinnamic acid derived from L-tyrosine through the action of tyrosine ammonia lyase [351,359,360]. It is subsequently activated to p-coumaroyl-CoA by 4-coumarate:CoA ligase [359] and serves as a central precursor for the biosynthesis of diverse secondary metabolites, including avenanthramides [360], eriodictyol [359], the flavones apigenin and genkwanin [351], and caffeic acid and ferulic acid [348].
